Stefania Buccio Gonzato was born in Brescia, Italy on June 25, 1949. Her mother, a renowned milliner, and her father, an artist himself, both encouraged Stefania's interests in the arts and foresaw their daughter's talents early in her life. Stefania started her education in art in at the age of fifteen, in the Vincenzo Foppa Artistic High School in Brescia. After she earned her artistic diploma there, she realized how much she wanted to continue her education in art. She chose to study at the University of Venice. While at the University, Stefania discovered another passion: architecture. Before Stefania finished her degree in architecture, she was the only female awarded an internship with two of her architecture professors, Benevolo and Albini. Stefania watched and helped the architects in their urban planning and development projects for the city of Brescia. Through her internship, she gained valuable knowledge and experience in the field. Some of Stefania's most poignant works of art were created during her University years as well.
Her marriage, in 1972, proved to amplify Stefania's interests in other tangible artistic ventures. Her architect husband Bruno introduced her to wrought iron art. Stefania quickly discovered another passion in wrought iron, and she happily explored her talents as she created and designed with wrought iron. She designed fences, gates, stairs, balconies and furniture as well as many other objects, and she continues to today. Stefania has and continues to give significant artistic support to her and Bruno's company, IND.I.A located in Malo, Italy. IND.I.A. stands for Industry of Italian Wrought Iron., and it's the world's largest producer of wrought iron products. Stefania lives in Schio, Italy and she has four children; Francesca, Matteo, Dario and Davide.
